Based in Izmir, Turkey, Şinadika performs the traditional Greek-Turkish repertoire of pre-war Smyrna. Born from a rich cultural diversity, this music draws on Byzantine, Ottoman, and Western musical traditions. Popularized in taverns at the end of the 19th century, this style, known as Smyrneïko tragoudi – “the songs of Smyrna”- would later gave birth to Rebetiko.
After several years of friendship between musicians from Izmir and France, the idea emerged of a France–Turkey collaboration, which led to a French tour in the summer of 2025 as well as a series of concerts in Turkey in the autumn of 2025.
